ABOUT THE ARTIST

About-photo-update

I preserve and restore wildlife habitat and build large colorful meadow landscapes where I raise fireflies and monarch butterflies. It has defined who I am for over fifty years. Aristotle said that happiness is the meaning and purpose of life— the whole aim and end of human existence. That sounds right to me. People ask me why I raise fireflies and what the purpose is. Children know the answer right away. It is happiness-- they run around laughing, catching fireflies to blink in a jar by their bedside.

The goal of my art is to paint and photograph serenity and beauty in the places that are important to me. My paintings are my memoirs. They are meant to convey the sense of place in nature in Vero Beach, Stony Creek and New Canaan.
